THE AFL has forced its media division to issue an apology to Port Adelaide after publishing a degrading comment about the Power's fan base.

Port Adelaide president David Koch took exception to the remarks and demanded an explanation today.

Koch tweeted: "All of us @PAFC angry & disappointed in comments by @AFL online. An official complaint & please explain has been lodged. Awaiting response."

The official AFL Live App text commentary referred to Port Adelaide supporters as "ferals".

On the AFL website's commentary of the match, they wrote: "Eagles should have the stronger bodies to prevail in a tight one, but try telling that to the full house of ferals."

The AFL today responded to anger on twitter by saying the issue had been raised and they were "looking into it".

AFL spokesman Patrick Keane confirmed the Power would receive an apology.
